FLY

I'm taking a few canvases to a new store today, hopefully she'll like them enough to put them in her stores.  Here's just a sample.

It's not complete yet, I just wanted the owner to see what she could put in her consignment shop.

Then this one...to die for!

Turn your head sideways on this one..

It's a Springy Journey, Come along with me!

Here's the little brown eyed girl when she was about 10 years old, I'm not quite sure of the year--so I'm guessing 1996.

Note the golden arches (no...not McD's) are from Alpha Stamps--something from Alpha Stamps had to be in the piece.

Above is the right side of the page, pink and green flowers, butterflies, several frames from my new Cricut machine!  Included is a sun with a journal tag attached.  It says, "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy."

Let's look at some more specific up close images:

Note:  I bought a cheap bundle of flowers($1) and took them off the plastic stems, I pulled the center out of this one and added a cloth brad. Yumminess!
For added dimension under the cloth flowers are cardstock pink and yellow flowers cut from  the Plantin Schoolbook Cricut cartridge. I also added a bit of lace.

Evidence of ink on my fingers:
Stamped images of Tim Holtz Butterfly, random flower patterns in Stayz On Brown.  AND, the definitions of Happy and Journey to finish it up!  Look real close and you can see heat embossed stamping on the black frame. I rock!    (yeah, I said it!)

I'm linking this layout to the following challenges.  Ya'll need to go check out these blogs!

Gawd, where did the week go!?

Quick post on a new scrapbook page I'm working on. Sorry for the poor quality picture--it was a quicky, just to get it up here.  There's much more to finish off with--I have several challenges I'm entering it into. whoopee!
This is my sunshine, (who isn't speaking to me right now--do ya'll ever have that with your 20 somethings?) who looks so fresh and springy in her Daisy dress.

Hold on Sunday, I ain't ready for Monday yet!

Hello Friends!
It's a lovely Sunday here in Nashville TN.  It's pretty cool today, but a LOVELY sunshiny day!
Hope you're Sunday is a  Hopping good day!

What is with the mustache craze these days?
It's not that I mind mustaches,
I love me some facial hair tickles!
It is a cute craze, so, when I found the mustache stickers at Michaels...I just had to buy them!  Don't you think this little guy has so much more personality with a handle bar mustache?

My sister asked me to make her some little animals for a baby shower. These images are from the "Live Simply" Cricut cartridge.

Here I used the Tim Holtz checkerboard stamp and heat embossed the stamp image onto the bottom layer of the turtle.  I loved the texture it created!

Snorkling anyone?
It might be hard to tell, but this little turtle has an air tank and flippers.

This is one cool cricut dude!  Love his sunglasses!

Remember that YOU too can be a cool cricut by signing up for a giveaway in honor of my father's 84th birthday!  CLICK here to visit the original posting.

Here's just a little snap shot of what you'll receive...

Freaking Friday Fantabulous Giveaway( a little EaRLY)

So, it's on Thursday evening here in Nashville TN, but, we are making this post for FRIDAY!  This has been an incredibly crazy season for me, culminating in a 100 birthday party for Girl Scouts on Saturday.  All planned and ready to execute...except....it's an outside party and ....
there's a 60% chance of rain.
Now..the question is...
Chance it and have the party outside and let's sing in the rain!?
or

change the location to our preplanned rain location.

Aww, hell....I hate having to change locations.

But, that's not what you're hear to talk about are you?  Remember, I'm hosting a giveaway for my pop who's birthday was April 3rd.  He turned 84 and I have eighty four(more or less) items to give one lucky winner.
I love to pull vintage photos from my mom's facebook.(oh, yes, my 79 year old mom has a very active facebook account.)

Let's take just a moment to dissect this picture, shall we?
1. My dad, on the right, circa 1960, I wasn't even a twinkle in his eye yet.
2. I'd love to know what he was saying to his father, my Grandfather, Fred H. Seay
3. My father would've been about 32 year old in this picture and my grandfather probably about 60ish
4. Look at the cool crochet doiley on the back of the couch.  I bet my Grandma, Lila Seay, made that with her very own hands. Couldn't you die for the curtains...ooolala. I little bit of frilly for her humble home.
5. Does that look like a bed in the living room?
6. Check out the coffee table: baby bottle, beer bottle x 2, cigarettes and a lighter.
7. What kinda party was going on in this house!
8.  See how my gramps is sitting and intently listening...I see that very same body language from my pop.  (it could be that he can't hear a word I'm saying, so he has to pretend--he wears two hearing aids that don't work too well.

Here's a funny story, or at least, I think it's funny.  When we grandkids would go to visit our grandpa he would reach under his mattress for a sock full of coins that he called, "Shorty's money." (shorty was the dog) Grandpa would give us all a nickel to run down to the local grocery for some candy.

You could get a lot of candy for 5 cents back in the day.....

It always kinda grossed me out a little bit that the sweet deliciousness was coming at the cost of a yucky old sock, but heck...it WAS candy.  for goodness sake.

So run on over to the original giveaway posting to see just exactly you could win. Follow the rules, share the love and let's get to partying like they did in 1960, baby bottles and ALL!

Time Travel Thursday

Time travel is so fun, isn't it?  We don't need no stinking special machine or Michael J. Fox!  We only need a few old photos and some memories!

Where shall we go today?
What vintage picture should I pull from the archives of our family's albums?

Since we are honoring my father's EIGHTY FOURTH birthday, let's stroll down memory lane with him.
Remember to visit this  link to enter into a giveaway!

Here he is circa late 1950s or early 1960s.  He was a mess Sargent--which meant, he managed the food hall.

looks like a good cup o'joe and a ham sandwich

dad is on the right
Quite handsome fella, wasn't he? No wonder my mom chased him across Germany to keep him.
Here's a picture of him in his paratrooper gear:

Can you imagine carrying around all that stuff

I love the smile on his face!  He was in his element!

my mom took some really cool pictures.

My father is very proud of his Airbourne wings and here is an example of him coming out of a plane.  He's in this gaggle of parachutes somewhere.  I remember as a little child going to the parade grounds to watch the planes fly over and my dad was one of them jumping out.  It was cool!

WoW! Isn't that amazing!?

It's a GIVEAWAY again! whoopeee

You may remember that for my mother's 79th birthday we celebrated the entire month of January to celebrate and then we had some lucky winners that got some GRAND prizes.

It's my dad's birthday and we are celebrating!  This week he is
I'm so lucky to have him around!  He tells some of the best old army stories.
Here he is leaving for Vietnam in 1969 surrounded by all his girls!

I'm the cute one..figure that one out. hahahahahaa
His most favorite activity on the planet is golfing(after making 6 babies--sorry, got a little R rated there)
But additionally, when he's sitting, he's reading

Now he's 84 and the same father I had growing up, maybe just a little mellowed out.

One funny thing about him and pictures is that he hates getting his picture taken.
can you say LOVE?  57 years.....
Dad gets soooo tired of having his picture made.  When this picture was being taken he said, "God Damn, When are you going to run out of film?"  Sorry for the language peeps, but that's my dad's favorite word.  We all laughed at him because to his irritation we NEVER run out of "digital" film.  Poor dad!

Now...to the giveaway.
In honor of my pop's 84 birthday I'm giving away 84 (or a little more) crafting items.  OH BOY!  You can't even see it all in this picture:

brads and ribbons and embellishments

stickles and crackle paint and paper and stickers

paper, paper and more paper.

How can you win this package of goodies.
Wellll...here you go:

2. If you're already a follower-leave a comment
3. Post a blog posting on your blog--leave a comment
4. Post another blog posting a week or more after your first posting--leave me comment
5. Share me on Facebook--leave a comment

This giveaway will end on April 30th at 5pm Nashville TN.  Share with your friends...or not(to keep your chances of winning high).

Come on let's party like we are 84 years old!

PS. When I called to wish my dad a happy birthday, first I had to sing the worst rendition of "Happy Birthday" ever (family tradition). To his credit he did holler for an encore.

Then I asked if he was going to paint the town red?
(in case you're not familiar with that term it means, go out and party)

The cute little German lady said, "We already did that...30 years ago."
And there you go.

Uhm...that's where I store the light bulbs.

"Hey Honey, I saw that box of Krispy Kream donuts hiding in your closet."
"Oh, that's an old box, I store the lightbulbs in it now."
Pause

giggle giggle smirk smirk
He couldn't hold  a straight face.

ReALLyYYYYY?
"Then why are there chocolate covered donuts in the box?

he is sooo busted....

Sookie came to investigate...see box of donuts upper left corner of picture?  "Hidden" in his storage closet.  He's not a good hider.
I ALWAYS find his stash.

If you like the antics of my MR and his sweet escapades, then go read this link....I can't eat chocolate, I'm diabetic.
