I made my mom a really cute card for her birthday and then forgot to take a picture of it!

I've got another card in the making-maybe I can remember to take a photo this time?
Wish me luck!

Monday is a lame way to spend 1/7 of your life!

I'm changing my tune...I think I like Mondays now.
Oh Wait.
It's a holiday in America.
No wonder I am digging this Monday morning.
Today I'm showing you the edited layout from yesterday.  My first submission had to have no words or phrases on it for my Design Team Submission to Red Carpet Studio Challenge Blog (stop by the blog and add your weekly submission)

I edited the layout to include a date one word: FISH!
I'm including this submission into this challenge:
Inspiration Avenue Weekly Challenge

Red Carpet Studios first Challenge starts this week!

Welcome to Red Carpet Studio's very first challenge! Follow this link, Red Carpet Studio Challenge Blog  to add your layout inspired by a silent movie(the rules are no words, letters or phrases) The challenge will run from Sunday, Sept 2 through Saturday, September 8th.

My submission is a vintage photo of my father and three of his little girls(you can't see one, she was cropped out--sorry sis)

Closeups:
I added this little doo-dad with a coin to it. I thought it looked like a fishing lure. Too bad I didn't have a lure on hand.
I added this mesh kind of material to give some texture.
Make sure to add your Silent Movie inspired layout to the weekly challenge.  This week, the randomly selected winner will win, This La Bella Vie Kit, from this week's sponsor Close To My Heart (Consultant Candice Fields) - http://candicefields.ctmh.com/Default.aspx

Additionally little something! LuvScraps Blog, one of my Design Team sisters is hosting a birthday blog candy. Check it out!

Time Travel Thursday

Time travel is so fun, isn't it?  We don't need no stinking special machine or Michael J. Fox!  We only need a few old photos and some memories!

Where shall we go today?
What vintage picture should I pull from the archives of our family's albums?

Since we are honoring my father's EIGHTY FOURTH birthday, let's stroll down memory lane with him.
Remember to visit this  link to enter into a giveaway!

Here he is circa late 1950s or early 1960s.  He was a mess Sargent--which meant, he managed the food hall.

looks like a good cup o'joe and a ham sandwich

dad is on the right
Quite handsome fella, wasn't he? No wonder my mom chased him across Germany to keep him.
Here's a picture of him in his paratrooper gear:

Can you imagine carrying around all that stuff

I love the smile on his face!  He was in his element!

my mom took some really cool pictures.

My father is very proud of his Airbourne wings and here is an example of him coming out of a plane.  He's in this gaggle of parachutes somewhere.  I remember as a little child going to the parade grounds to watch the planes fly over and my dad was one of them jumping out.  It was cool!

WoW! Isn't that amazing!?

It's a GIVEAWAY again! whoopeee

You may remember that for my mother's 79th birthday we celebrated the entire month of January to celebrate and then we had some lucky winners that got some GRAND prizes.

It's my dad's birthday and we are celebrating!  This week he is
I'm so lucky to have him around!  He tells some of the best old army stories.
Here he is leaving for Vietnam in 1969 surrounded by all his girls!

I'm the cute one..figure that one out. hahahahahaa
His most favorite activity on the planet is golfing(after making 6 babies--sorry, got a little R rated there)
But additionally, when he's sitting, he's reading

Now he's 84 and the same father I had growing up, maybe just a little mellowed out.

One funny thing about him and pictures is that he hates getting his picture taken.
can you say LOVE?  57 years.....
Dad gets soooo tired of having his picture made.  When this picture was being taken he said, "God Damn, When are you going to run out of film?"  Sorry for the language peeps, but that's my dad's favorite word.  We all laughed at him because to his irritation we NEVER run out of "digital" film.  Poor dad!

Now...to the giveaway.
In honor of my pop's 84 birthday I'm giving away 84 (or a little more) crafting items.  OH BOY!  You can't even see it all in this picture:

brads and ribbons and embellishments

stickles and crackle paint and paper and stickers

paper, paper and more paper.

How can you win this package of goodies.
Wellll...here you go:
1. Become a follower-leave a comment
2. If you're already a follower-leave a comment
3. Post a blog posting on your blog--leave a comment
4. Post another blog posting a week or more after your first posting--leave me comment
5. Share me on Facebook--leave a comment

This giveaway will end on April 30th at 5pm Nashville TN.  Share with your friends...or not(to keep your chances of winning high).

Come on let's party like we are 84 years old!

PS. When I called to wish my dad a happy birthday, first I had to sing the worst rendition of "Happy Birthday" ever (family tradition). To his credit he did holler for an encore.

Then I asked if he was going to paint the town red?
(in case you're not familiar with that term it means, go out and party)

The cute little German lady said, "We already did that...30 years ago."
And there you go.

In honor of my Mom's 79th bday! Come sign up for a Giveaway!

Hello Bloggy Friends!
In honor of my beautiful mom's 79th birthday I am giving away a huge, big, gigantic giveaway.

1955 wedding photo
Aren't they the sweetest couple ever? (I'm a little biased). Dad was stationed in Germany with the 101st Airborne Division, while my mother worked in Augsberg.  They met through friends, hit it off, but to my dad it was just a little romance.  He got stationed to another base and didn't tell my mom.  Word has it that my mother hunted him down at his new barracks.  (I guess today that might be called stalking) They were married in 1955 at city hall and have been together since!

Remember you can sign up for a HUGE giveaway. You will want to participate!
Go to THIS LINK to find out how to win.  I'll need you to leave your comments on the original post....follow the link!

Wacky Doodle Wednesday! (and a Giveaway)

Hello Everyone!
Thanks for joining me on the Wacky Doodle Wednesday posting....everyone loves a good dog picture, right?

It's a reindeer, no it's a pug.  No, a reindeer, no a pug...hummmmmm
This is Cornbread the Pug, my parent's dog.  They collect pugs like salt and pepper shakers.

Here's my dad with Cornbread and Daisy.  Cornbread, named after my father's favorite food, was given to my dad at his work. When Cornbread came to my parents home she didn't know how to eat out of a dog food bowl.  Seems like she was only ever given food from her owner's hands.  She's the best dog on the planet now...and eats just fine now.

Daisy came to my parents last Halloween.  Mom tells the story that these children came trick or treating and noticed Cornbread.  They left with their goodies and within a few minutes were knocking on the door again. This time it was a treat for my mom. ...The kids said, "You want another dog like yours?" And in their arms was Daisy. Daisy was found running through the kids neighborhood and they tried to find her owner, but weren't able too.

We think Daisy was a puppy mill breeder.  She looked like she just had pups, was scared of people and has other mannerisms  a dog that stayed in a kennel all the time.  Today, these two pugs are like salt and pepper.  Look at this absolutely cute shot!

Remember you can sign up to win  the most beautiful tags in the world.

Feeling a little fussy?

Fussy, on a friday!?  What's the matter with me?
If you had to share your pop's lap with a twin, you'd be fussy too!  Move over Jaymie...I need more space!

But, I'm also feeling fussy because I've entered into a "Fabulous Friday Fussy Cut" challenge over at Frosted Designs.  I'm showing off one of my first cards I made.

I've learned many new techniques since this I made these cards and have been inspired to pull Marie out of hiding for some new cards.  The cards not only feature a Marie Antionette image, but also a BEE image.  The bee is the mascot of my women's club and these cards were made as thank you cards.

unfortunately I didn't have the right setting on my camera and this card looks a little greenish.  It was yellow.

She's floating in the air!
Be easy on your critiques, remember these are my first cards!  I am excited to try again and make some other techniques.
