We're not in Kansas anymore....

We're not in Kansas anymore...
Or
Are we?
Did you know that Kansas is known as the Sunflower State?  Well...you do now!
In honor of Kansas (not really)  check out this CAS card.

I used glossy photo paper and alcohol ink for the sunflower.

After the alcohol ink dried, I stamped the sunflower with Stayz on ink(black) and fussy cut.
To add a little pizzaz to the  card I drizzled the center with glossy accents and sprinkled Martha Stewart microbeads into the center. All I gotta say is the person getting this card will be IMPRESSED!!

I added a yellow gingham border, glittery flower border and a white ribbon. Pop dotted the sunflower and stamped  LOVE  and done! **snapping fingers**

If you're still reading, let me share this factoid about the state of Kansas.  I NEVER knew until I just googled Sunflower State.  Who knew Kansas used to be a "squatter sovereign state?"  Read on to find out how and why.  You'll be able to share this at your next party and impress EVERYONE.The Squatter State

Kansas was referred to as the "Squatter State" because of the new settlers that flocked into the new territory establishing claims to the land. Early squatters were from the slave state of Missouri. They moved in as quickly as possible to prevent the territory from being populated by people from free states, especially those from New England. Missouri squatters organized the Squatters Claim Association in 1854 in order to secure their claims to the land and prevent emigration from the northern states. Before any arrivals from the northern free states, nearly every man in west Missouri had staked a claim in the new territory of Kansas and become a "Squatter Sovereign" of the state. Almost all desirable land that was open to settlement had been claimed by pro-slavery Missourians.

Card pattern 152

Hello All,
It's been a crazy busy world in the Girl Scout cookie business this week.  Cookies were delivered last week....I should post some of those pictures.  Watch for a posting this week.  Additionally, I've had a whole bunch of other things going on and I have so missed visiting the blog world.

Here's my entry into the Card Pattern weekly challenge.

I challenged myself to be more creative this year...to enjoy playing with my new cricut machine and to participate in more challenges.  Soooo....here's my entry:

Simple, yet elegant. One of my favorite laces on the planet. Should have taken a close up of it.

Every year for several now, I have celebrated  "Love your sister" day  I am pushing for it to become a National Holiday.  One day...one day!  They have fathers day, mothers day, grandparents, bosses day, secretaries day, ground hog day, why not Sister Day!

remember, I'm the cute on in the front.....

Here are my other 4 sister's cards.

A little over the top with embellishes, but hey, why not!

for the crossword puzzle lover.

I love the banner, the brown and blue and the little bird perched on the heart.

simple and a little quirky.  Was trying a little something different.
See you tomorrow!  (it's Saturday!)

Love your sister day.

I'm entering this card into the Card Patterns Challenge Sketch #151 It's my first card to enter into this blog challenge.

I need to invest in a better camera.

Love My Sis

Each year I send my sisters a little prezzy to tell 'em how much I love them.  It's started several years ago when I was whining to myself about being single on Valentines Day...I was single for 11 years--loooonnnnggg time.  So, I decided, "I'm not whining anymore!"  And decided to share my love with my sisters on the 13th.  I would like to declare it a National Holiday and get the credit for creating the holiday.  (I'm not humble am I).
So, Women of Blog Land...go celebrate your sisters on February 13th.  Show them how much you love them!

This is  a very busy weekend for me!  This is why!

I have three deliveries this weekend...no gym for me!

Challenge Friday and a giveaway

Hello All!
This month has just flew by, it's already January 27th, which means YOU have exactly 4 days left to enter
this giveaway.  My cute mom turned 79 this month and in her honor we are celebrating with a BIG gift to you!  Whoopy!!!

Recently I found Card Patterns Blog and am so excited, cause I feel like I can actually DO some of these challenges. Ya'll know what I'm talking about, you see some challenge that ask for a red, white, puke green with purple roses layout.  Not that there is anything wrong with a red, white, puke green and purple roses layout. It's just that I am green with envy less talented than the woman that can ROCK that layout AND make you wish you were the ONE that was so clever. Darn you***fist shaking***
 Am I right?

Anyway....there was a sketch....and here's my work:

This started with a brown cardstock that actually was in a xmas 6x6 stack.  I used my brand new Cricut Expression to cut a scalloped circle. Then two full circles(one off white, one patchwork) I cut those two circles in half and put one side each on the blue scalloped circle.

I had a bit of an accident with my automatic tape dispenser at this time.  I wish I had a picture of that....next time...to be sure...there will be a next time!

Some vintage lace from a RAK I won, a little bright pink bling border topped with a butterfly border.
Stickles is my very bestest friend--I used it to add dimension on the patchwork and on the swirls of the butterflies.

Black embossed "love" stamp from the dollar bin

Chipboard heart with a thick coat of stickles(my bestie) with a diamond bling brad to hold it in place.

Show me some love......
