Card pattern 152

Hello All,
It's been a crazy busy world in the Girl Scout cookie business this week.  Cookies were delivered last week....I should post some of those pictures.  Watch for a posting this week.  Additionally, I've had a whole bunch of other things going on and I have so missed visiting the blog world.

Here's my entry into the Card Pattern weekly challenge.

I challenged myself to be more creative this year...to enjoy playing with my new cricut machine and to participate in more challenges.  Soooo....here's my entry:

Simple, yet elegant. One of my favorite laces on the planet. Should have taken a close up of it.

Every year for several now, I have celebrated  "Love your sister" day  I am pushing for it to become a National Holiday.  One day...one day!  They have fathers day, mothers day, grandparents, bosses day, secretaries day, ground hog day, why not Sister Day!

remember, I'm the cute on in the front.....

Here are my other 4 sister's cards.

A little over the top with embellishes, but hey, why not!

for the crossword puzzle lover.

I love the banner, the brown and blue and the little bird perched on the heart.

simple and a little quirky.  Was trying a little something different.
See you tomorrow!  (it's Saturday!)

pink-a-licious

I love visiting this blog on Saturdays, How Sweet the Sound because it's a blog hop of pink juiciness!
My contribution for Pink Saturday is a tag I'm working on for The Altered Paper Tag a month swap.  I'm not sure who will be receiving this beauty, but hopefully, they won't see this posting--so it doesn't ruin the surprise.

Beautiful paper from my stash, I used my brand new Cricut Expressions to cut the tag with the word LOVE in it.  Don't you LOVE it?  Some beautiful lace from a blog win.  Added some distressed ink around the edges. Remember stickles is my friend and so I added some dimension to the polka dots.

We'ved talked about a kitten cat always jumping into the picture....

Flip side of tag. I've been dying to use this birdcage glitter chipboard!  OMG!  Pansy vintage wrapping paper from my mother's stash.  Speaking of my mom....you have 3 days left to sign up for the most terrific giveaway in blog land --well, almost!
And, one more order of business....as a part of Pink Saturday, I went to visit  Just me Shel.  Go, visit, be entertained by some delightfully beautifopl pictures you'll ever see.

It's 2012 ya'll!

OK
Tell me the truth
During the first month of a new year, don't you have to tell yourself that's it's the new year.
You get the priviledge of hearing my thoughts
"It's 20-12"
2
0
1
2
"don't forget to write 2012..."
Last week I was filling out my expense report for December and kept reminding myself...
"It's 2012, make sure to put December 2012!!"
I even went back and fixed where I still typed December 2011.

Facepalm..December WAS 2011.  I had to go back and change all the dates...silly me.

The Marie Antionette Tag is one I created for Tag of the Month Swap at The Altered Paper . Go check it out and join in the fun.  At the end of the year I'll have 12 tags from 12 different artists.  The Marie tag was a white patterened paper that I used Tim Holtz Spun Sugar Distressed STAINS, not inks.  (these are new to me) Oh so much fun!
I used a punch/embosser on the corners, added some bling and DONE.

I also swapped with another blogger this tag
I used Distressed ink to color this paper.  Then I stamped some evergreens in the "background."  Added a couple of tickets, plus a snowman and some self made pine trees.
oh, oh, let me tell you something I did really neat.
I used the Martha Stewart snowflake border punch. (I have a hard time with that punch, does anyone have any suggestions on how to make a punch not be so "sticky")
I punched a border on some scrap paper and gathered the punched snowflakes.  I then added stickles to the snowflakes.  Once dry, I glued the snowflakes randomly on the tag.

I need to say thank you to Tina at Beansiebabbles blog and Donna at Red Apple Junction Blog for taking the pictures of my tags. I forgot to take pictures prior to sending!

Added some embossing with the ever so charming chandelier.  A quaint saying(ya'll can't see it because I forgot to download the final project.  Watch for a picture on tomorrow's post!)

On a side note, as I was driving this morning I heard that Cheech and Chong will be in a new commercial. I was a big fan of theirs back in the day...when I didn't even know what they were talking about. (I was a good girl, just ask my twin)  I had to go to youtube and find their latest commercial.  It just ain't right.  What is the world coming to when Cheech and Chong are peddlin' fiber.

Tag Tuesday and a Giveaway!

Oo la la!  I've had a whole lot o'fun making these tags.
Last week I found a write up in the local paper on our CEO and so instead of a regular card, I wanted to give her something a little special.  Plus another coworker had just "made it through" a large event for Girl Scout volunteers.  I started the tag with some of my favorite Tim Holtz products.

For the past few months I've been using the alcohol ink felt pads to apply DI on cards. I never knew there were two different applicating pads.  Geez, what a difference it makes to use the FOAM pads with the Distressed Inks.

For the CEO I wanted to add a spotted puppy to the tag and then the saying: "I spotted you!" and my coworker I wanted to tell her to celebrate for making it through the large event.

What do you think!?  The dog is the cutiest thing ever, isn't it? I attached this tag with a clip to the newspaper clipping.  It's always good to show your boss some love, isn't it?

This tag I thought would be fun with a ferris wheel of cuppies!  Yes, I'm not very experienced with tags or with grunge board, but how freaking cute are the cupcake stickers. Makes me want to stop at friends at Faboo Cakes new location for some yummy desserts.

 Now for the giveaway!
I'll start hosting a Tuesday Tag giveaway and you're the first to hear about it!  Whootty whoot!  Since Halloween is just around the corner you'll receive these tags:

Encouraging Words Magnet Swap

Happy Saturday Blog Friends!
Today I have a moment to sit and catch up on the wonderful blogs I follow and also to do a litte posting too.  This time of year is the busiest time of year for me. I'm visiting local schools, hosting Girl Scout events in the park, making radio appearances and generally keeping busy as a bee.  Check out some of these cute shots.....

come and play with me!

I know their moms are proud!

aren't these the cutiest faces!
Thank goodness for a patient hubby that doesn't mind making dinner and handling household chores, while I rustling up some Girl Scouts!  Thank you Mr. Horn....
our wedding day...only a few years back!

If you're a Girl Scout Alumnae(or former Brownie) remember that 2012 we are celebrating 100 years of Girl Scouting.  You can find out about some upcoming events by visiting your local Girl Scout councils website, go to Girl Scouts USA website to find out more.  If you'd like, leave me a comment about your favorite Girl Scout memory.  I love to hear your stories.

This week I participated in a swap with the very talented artists at Gingersnap Creations.  I had to make 4 magnets with encouraging phrases and then I'll get in return 4 magnets from different artists.  **excited**
I'm very happy with the final look of these magnets and may reproduce them in the future.
Believe good things will happen to you!
Somebody's gonna do it, why not YOU?

Be confident and proud
dream big dreams, have big ideas

My favortie is the  birdbath stamped image with the words, "Dream big dreams, have big ideas"  Don't we all need to think like that?  Here's a close up where you can see the glossy accents I added to give some dimension to the magnet.(A suggestion from the MR.)

These were magnetic frames from Michaels that cost me a whole whopping $1.49!  First I printed out on regular copy paper the phrases and cut them to fit the frame.  I added Adirondack Alcohol Inks to the frames, let that dry and then slid the copy paper in to the frames.  After that I figured out where I would place the stamps.  After I was all done, I just felt like something else needed to happen.  I pulled the paper with the phrases out of the frames and added distressed ink around the edges in Black Soot.  These pictures were taken before I added the distressed ink.  Take my word for it, adding the distressed inks around the edges really gave the magnet another dimension.

I love working with the alcohol inks--I need to buy some in all the different colors.  Sookie isn't too fond of them, I guess her little sniffer can really pick up the chemicals from the blending solution and her eyes get all squinted when she smells the bottle. Why is she sniffing the bottle you ask?  Because that's what cats do.

ready to sniff whatever is on the work table

After a few too many sniffs, the kitten is ready to party!  She even puts silly things on her head!  Sookie, you are now limited to a one sniff limit.

Have a wonderful weekend people! Take a moment to remember 9/11 and those that serve our country.  Hugs and kitten kisses,
G
