Here's my project
I thought this picture looked like a director and her film crew waiting on instructions.

I used my cricut to put together the clicky thingy, I think it's called a slate?  I distressed the black paper to make it looked like it was used a lot.  I actually used a silver metallic gel marker that showed up chalk like.(happy accident)
Layers of ribbons, flowers and brads! OH  MY!!
An upclose of the photo, because it's so durn cute. My mother surrounded by just a few of her grandchildren.
It's all in the details.  I love the three dots of stickles in each corner.

Wacky Doodle Wednesday!

Hi ya'll!
One of my favorite characters is this cat on tv commercials who is planning to take over the world.  Day-by-day he starts to grow thumbs and once all the cats in the world have thumbs they will take over the world.
Watch, be careful you'll spit your milk out while watching this.

Don't forget this weekend is the premier weekend for the new Red Carpet Studio   challenge blog:
We'll be giving away one of these:

Hold on Sunday, I ain't ready for Monday yet

My poor blog has been so neglected lately. I know you've been waiting with bated breath (or is that bad breath) for another posting.
Although I wish my life consisted of cutting, painting, distressing and all that fun stuff, instead, I have a full time job that keeps me occupied sometimes.  This weekend I took a day off to originally go spend money at the Creating Keepsakes Convention in Nashville.  But instead decided to work at a booth to make money to spend another day.

I wanted to wear this, but thought better of it!

You know, first impressions and all!

So, instead I wore this:

How do I look?

At least I remembered to shave and didn't show up like this:

Anyway, I was introduced to a new product called, Lea France French Photo Collage stenciling technique.

Hold on Sunday, I ain't ready for Monday yet

It's been a beautiful weekend in Nashville, unseasonably cool. Cool enough that we may just sit out on the deck this evening.  This time of year it's typically so stinkin' hot stepping outside is like a steam sauna x 10.  But, NOT today. Today it's lovely outside!
A few days ago I announced a new Challenge Blog, check out the info below for one of the best giveaways ever!  Here's my sneak peak for the premier weekend!
I didn't have a die cut for this, so instead, I had to make my own. Good thing it's just rectangle and lines.  I heat embossed the lines and hand lettering with white detail embossing.  I distressed plain black paper with a sander.

Click on the link below, check out the new challenge blog!

Time Travel Thursday 8-9-12

1962,

  • the year of the Cuban missel crisis with the Russians and JFK
  • folk music evolved to protest music thanks to artists like Bob Dylan(does anyone understand him?)
  • A new hit  tv show was on prime time: The Beverly Hillbillies(my personal favorite)
  • James Bond became an instant legend in 1962 with his first movie, "Dr. No."(does anyone drool over the new James Bond: Daniel Craig like I do?  Man, he is HOT!)

And,
my mom had her 3 little girls photographed by Olan Mills
Left to right: Kathy, Patsy, Margie
Matching dresses and cute as buttons.  Look at their chubby little hands! My twin and our little sister weren't even a sparkle in my parents' eyes yet....what a cute set of little girls!

A few years later, this photo was taken. 1964

Come by tomorrow for some more Puddin N Pie!

News Day Tuesday 8-6-12

It's Tuesday and time for another what's trending in the world feature story Remember I'm only doing this for fun, small print....this news will only be fun, silly and purely delightful content.  If you want the real news...go turn on CNN. just saying.

Spoil Alert
This News Day Tuesday has some depressing trending stories.
And, since the news is depressing, let's  have a little something to make us laugh, shall we?

bathing beauty
The top 3 trending topics on Yahoo this morning:
1. Fred Matau dies...who is he?  No disrespect someone passing is someone leaving family behind.  followed the story like a good journalist would and this fella is a 28 year old football player who died of a heart condition. omg. so sad for the family.
2. Kirk Urso dies...who is this guy?  Again, see above.  This was a 22 year old soccer player who collapsed in a bar and no cause of death has been determined.  Geez, sorry to be such a downer today.  Condolences to the family.
3. Macaulay Culkin..now, I know who this fella is, child actor from theHome Alone movie fame, is reported to have a drug problem.  REALLY!?  Can today be anymore depressing?  I hope he finds rehab.

Let's end this posting on something much more interesting to me and very light hearted!  lets skip to the fourth trending topic on Yahoo.....
4. McDonald's Curly Fries.  Seriously this is news.  (it is my kinda news....see previous postings about my girlish figure.)

Well, keep you chin up friends and let's have a great Tuesday. See you tomorrow for Wacky Wednesday!

Favorite Quote of the week 8-4-12

Aww, Saturday...
How I wish we had a whole week of you.
PJ's all day
Sleep late
Mid day snooze
early to bed

Every Saturday I like to share with you some highlight of my week.  You know those moments in time where you smile at something someone said...those moments you wish you could hold onto and visit over and over.

But, let's take a time travel moment(I know, it's not Time Travel Thursday), I just ran across this photo on my mother's facebook(yes, my 79 year old mommy has a facebook AND she's scanned every single family photo and uploaded them to Facebook)

My mom and her ONLY pair of jeans ever. 1962

Now. back to the story and my favorite quote of the week.
Mom of four(2 girls, 2 boys) was talking to me this week about life at her house.  In pleasant conversation she said, "Yay, I let him go pee on the fence."
stop.
Wait.
"Whaddyou say?"
"Oh yay, when Ian is a good boy, I tell him he can go outside and pee on the fence."
"It's a boy thing."
"They like to do that kinda stuff and it's cheap."

maybe you had to be there, but I laughed my guts out.

Time Travel Thursday 8-2-12

Let's travel back to 1960....shall we?
My mom was 27, dad was 30.  It was the summer and they were just a young couple with a toddler and one on the way, hanging at the creek.

I used a movie theme....wait for it....
...
...
...
...
Some Like it Hot with Marilyn Monroe and Tony Curtis. But, here, my mom and dad are the stars!
LOOK at the viewfinder reel.  I was so excited to use that there.

Marlyn Monroe starred in this movie and some of her quotes were GREAT. This photo is blurry on the "Some" on purpose I want you to see the quotation. "I don't care how rich he is, as long as he has a yacht, his own private railroad car and his own toothpaste."
Me, I settled for the his own toothpaste.  Dental hygiene is very important.

I love to look at pictures of my mom and pop when they were in their early years.  It reminds me that everyone grows, learns, has hardships and successes.  I know...deep man.
The frames were cut with my Cricut then I added crackle paint and the edges curled up. Neato man!
Sookie was tuckered out helping me with this layout.

aww, to be a cat...18 hours of sleep a day is necessary.
